I LOVE this movie. I saw it two, maybe three years ago and still think about it.

Garbo and the hopelessly dashing Antonio Moreno in The Temptress, Garbo’s 2nd American film.

Under the direction of Garbo’s mentor, Mauritz Stiller, the film was partially completed with a mustache-less Moreno. When Stiller was fired, he was replaced by Fred Niblo, and the entire film had to be re-shot.  The 4 month ordeal was made all the more grueling when, less than a week into shooting, Garbo received a telegram informing her that her only sister, Alva, had passed away. The studio refused to allow the distraught actress to return home for the funeral.
